Guam Economic Development Authority QCCC Series 8 Grant Award

Guam Skate Network is honored to announce that we have been awarded a $24,980 grant from the Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA) Qualifying Certificate Community Contribution Grant Program, Series 8.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the GEDA board and staff for approving our application and for trusting us with this vital support. This funding will directly power expanded youth coaching programs, fund the purchase of 30 complete sets of skateboards and safety gear for free community classes, and drive critical repairs at the Dededo and Tamuning skateparks we maintain. All funds are subject to strict grant compliance: every dollar must be spent on approved line items as submitted in the application, any unused funds after the 12-month period will be returned to GEDA, and any unapproved purchases will be repaid from our organization's reserves. We are proud that after hundreds of volunteer hours from our board and over $30,000 in personal investments by our executive board members over the last two years building GSN from the ground up, GEDA is now rewarding the results we've delivered on behalf of Guam's youth. This grant enables us to finally compensate our local coaches for their dedication, transforming years of unpaid service into sustainable, professional youth programming. Above is the current approved “USE OF FUNDS” table that was submitted in our grant application. Any funds remaining within a specific category after all approved purchases are completed will not be spent without authorization. GSN will submit a written approval request to GEDA to reallocate leftover funds toward existing line items in other categories or toward new items not originally listed. No reallocation will occur until written approval is received from GEDA. This ensures full compliance with grant terms and guarantees that every dollar is used exactly as intended or returned, continuing our work in providing all of the public, parents, students, and skaters alike the full transparency a non-profit should truly have. This grant does not allow for any reimbursement of the ≈$30,000 of personal funds our board has invested, including personal funds used for park improvements that were made pre-award (i.e. the steel angle iron purchased for the Dededo Skatepark Ledges in June before we won the grant). It does not allow for any travel expenses for our team as we head to compete in off island competitions, nor does it allow for any monies to be used to support our personal or family businesses.
