Guam Skate Network is the island’s official skating federation, recognized by the Guam National Olympic Committee (GNOC) and by World Skate, the international governing body for skateboarding and the Olympic pathway. We are responsible for developing the sport on Guam through events, youth programs, athlete development, and skatepark advocacy.

Recognition under the GNOC ensures that GSN meets the standards required of all national sports federations. 

This includes:

• A constitution and bylaws in line with GNOC and World Skate regulations.

• Democratic governance and elected leadership.

• Transparent financial reporting.

• Active programs for athlete development and community outreach.

• Commitment to Guam’s representation in international competitions.

This recognition legitimizes GSN as Guam’s official body for skateboarding and allows athletes to compete in the Olympic pathway.

World Skate is the international federation for skateboarding, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). GSN’s membership under World Skate ensures that Guam’s athletes are eligible to participate in official World Skate Tour events, Olympic Qualifiers, and the Olympic Games.

We provide opportunities for skaters of all ages and levels through:

• Community events such as Go Skate Day Guam.

• Youth engagement programs like the DYA Summer Camp.

• Competitions, including the Guam National Skateboarding Championship.

• Skatepark restoration and building projects, creating safe and world-class places to skate.

• Training and mentorship, helping athletes prepare for international competition.

The Guam National Skateboarding Championship is our flagship annual event to crown Guam’s official National Champion. The champion earns the opportunity to represent Guam in Olympic qualifying events.

Important Note: Any skater can compete, but to be crowned National Champion, the skater must be a legal resident of Guam. If a non-resident wins first place, the title passes to the highest-placing Guam resident.

GSN’s competitions will follow the World Skate Olympic judging format:

• Semifinals (2/3/2) → 2 runs + 3 tricks, with best run + top 2 tricks counting.

• Finals (3/3/2) → 3 runs + 3 tricks, with best run + top 2 tricks counting.

• • Skaters are scored on difficulty, execution, creativity, and consistency.

We raise funds and provide organizational support to send athletes to World Skate Tour stops and qualifiers, such as the upcoming competition in Kitakyushu, Japan. Our role is to make sure Guam’s skaters have the resources, training, and pathways to represent the island proudly on the world stage.

• Volunteer at events and skatepark clean-ups.

• Participate in community programs and youth clinics.

• Support by attending events and fundraisers.

Sponsor or donate to help send athletes to international competitions and fund skatepark projects.

As a developing federation, GSN relies on community and corporate support to:

• Cover travel and lodging for athletes competing abroad.

• Build and restore skateparks.

• Run youth and community programs.

• Meet GNOC requirements for sustainable operations.

As a GNOC and WSK recognized federation, GSN follows strict requirements for financial reporting, governance, and ethical standards. All funds raised are directed toward programs, athlete support, and development of skateboarding in Guam.

Guam Skate Network follows GNOC and World Skate requirements for athlete eligibility. To apply to represent Guam internationally, skaters must follow the below criteria:

            1. Residency & Citizenship Requirements

• Athletes born on Guam must provide cumulative school transcripts and/or a certified letter of tax returns covering at least 5 total years leading up to the Olympic Games.

• Athletes not born on Guam must show 5 consecutive years of residency on island through official documentation such as school records or tax records.

• Athletes who are not U.S. citizens are not eligible to represent Guam in Olympic pathway events.
  2. GSN Good Standing

• Must be registered with GSN and adhere to our code of conduct.

• Must maintain active participation in federation programs and training.

• Must have no active disciplinary issues.

           3.World Skate & GNOC Requirements

• Must hold a valid World Skate license when required.

• Must comply with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) standards, including random testing when applicable.

• Must complete safeguarding and safe sport training, ensuring awareness of athlete welfare, youth protection, and ethical conduct.

           4.Health & Safety

• Athletes must pass basic health and fitness checks to ensure competition readiness.

All coaches and team staff traveling or working with Guam athletes must:

• Register with GSN and be approved by the federation.

• Undergo background checks for safety and accountability.

• Hold appropriate certifications or recognized experience in skateboarding coaching.

• Adhere to GNOC and World Skate codes of ethics.

• Commit to youth protection policies, ensuring safe environments for all athletes.

This process ensures that Guam’s representatives are not only skilled but also uphold the values of integrity, safety, and professionalism.
